Romance Books To Read This Winter

1. Shadows of You (Lost & Found #4) By Catherine Cowles

It was supposed to be a fresh start. A small town where I could hide my little girl from the shadows that haunt us. A place where I could keep us safe.

The last thing I expected was him.

A surly, broody mountain of a man who helps me save an injured deer in a snowstorm.

Now, Roan Hartley keeps showing up with his glowers and grimaces. But they only make his rare smiles and the gentle way he talks to my daughter mean that much more.

When forces from my past find us, Roan is determined to keep us safe—even if that means sleeping on my ancient couch every night.

As days turn to weeks, his touch has my walls crashing down. But someone out there doesn’t want me to find happiness. He doesn’t want me left breathing at all…

2. The Unseelie King and I (Fae-ted Kings #2) By Milana Jacks

This is one of my favorite books with fae. I love the relationship that Aamako and Augusta start to build. They are very patient with each other and try to build a friendship first (which I loved).

Set during winter with, so there’s tons of snow and cold weather. Perfect for this season!

It can be as a standalone, so you don’t have to read the first book to understand what’s going on with the different characters.

He’s the king of all the Unseelie fae. And I’m his bride.

Augusta
You’d think that as the Royal Seer, I would’ve foreseen the tall, shadow-cloaked fae appear in the gardens. And how we’d share a bench, intimate conversation, and a kiss.

But I didn’t.

When he offers his arm to escort me back to the King’s ball, I find myself taking it. And learning his identity.

The Unseelie king, a reclusive male with magic too powerful to comprehend.

Clearly, I shouldn’t have kissed him. My mistake.

My huge mistake. For now, the Unseelie king demands something my king isn’t willing to give.

That I become his bride.

Aamako
My nephew wants to steal my crown.

This forces me out of seclusion and into society, particularly the lavish halls of the Seelie Court. I’m searching for a bride.

I meet her as soon as I step into the Golden Palace gardens. The Royal Seer, a beauty with laughter made of sunshine, intriguing boldness, and a kind heart—a tempting combination I must resist.

Although I knew this engagement was never real, it begins to feel anything but. And now I’m not sure how I’ll ever let her go…

3. Ride (The Wild Sequence #1) By Harper Dallas

No one rides like Chase Austin.

Bad boy. Player. Adrenaline junkie. Snowboarder Chase Austin has a reputation—and not just for being the world’s best extreme athlete.

He’s as cold as the mountains he rides, loyal only to his crew… and panties drop wherever he goes.

Photographer Brooke Larson knows better than to let him get through her emotional Kevlar. So what if she used to have his poster on her bedroom wall?

She’s not a teenager with a crush anymore. Chase Austin is her key to the big time, and she’s getting his photo no matter what.

Too bad the only place Chase wants her is in his bed.

Men leave. Success is forever. Brooke knows the drill, and she’s not letting anyone get in the way of her career—or into her heart.

But whether it’s on the slopes or between the sheets, riding with the best means risking it all.

4. Unravel Me (Playing for Keeps #3) By Becka Mack

In the sizzling hockey romance that has taken TikTok by storm, the star goalie discovers the family he’s always wanted when he falls in love with a single mother.

The third book in the globally popular Playing for Keeps series.

Can he leave the past behind to forge the future he’s always wanted?

When it comes to dating, Adam Lockwood wouldn’t know luck if it hit him in the face. After a failed relationship and a string of dates gone wrong, the thought of being vulnerable with someone is terrifying—most women only see his fame.

But when his dog runs into Rosie Wells, a beautiful woman with a blush as pink as her hair, she doesn’t seem to have a clue who he is, and Adam seizes the opportunity as a chance to finally be himself.

Rosie has her hands full as a single mother and fourth-year veterinary student, and she certainly wouldn’t know a hockey player if she ran into one.

She doesn’t have time to date, and she’s fiercely protective of her little family. But when a chance encounter leads her to Adam, she knows it’s worth risking her heart.

The only problem? Adam is used to wearing a mask—he’s a goalie, after all. And as he holds onto a secret that threatens to unravel him and destroy his new family, they’re both at risk of losing more than ever before.

5. Wildest Dreams (Fantasyland #1) By Kristen Ashley

This is one of the best books I have read this year, and I can’t believe it has taken me so long to read it (it was first published in 2011).

Finnie is such an amazing character. I loved her personality and the way she sees the world and life.

Frey can be annoying in the beginning, but soon he sees the real Finnie.

You are going to love this winter wonderland!

Seoafin “Finnie” Wilde was taught by her parents that every breath was a treasure and to seek every adventure she could find.

She learns this lesson the hard way after they perish in a plane crash. When she discovers there’s a parallel universe where every person has a twin, she finds a witch who can send her there so she can see her parents again.

And have the adventure of a lifetime.

Upon arrival in the winter wonderland of Lunwyn, Finnie realizes she’s been played and finds herself walking down the aisle to wed The Drakkar.

Instantly thrown into inauspicious circumstances, with years of practice (she did survive that elephant stampede), Finnie bests the challenges and digs into her adventure.

But as Frey Drakkar discovers the woman who is his new wife is not Princess Sjofn, a woman he loathes, but instead his Finnie, a free spirit with a thirst for venture just like him, without her knowledge, he orders his new bride bound to his frozen world…

Everlasting.

6. Black Ice (Ice #1) By Anne Stuart

7. Unforgettable (Landmark Mountain #1) By Willow Aster

Jamison Ledger.
The hottest man I’ve ever seen.
The enemy I never saw coming.

On one of the worst days of my life, the last thing I planned on was falling into bed with a guy who literally charmed the pants right off me.

Little did I know, that hot, gorgeous man would be Jamison Ledger, the man responsible for the very tears I was crying.

A thief. The very sexy thief who took everything I’ve ever wanted—my legacy, my happiness, and what I’ve worked my whole life to attain.

Now, we have to co-exist. Working together at my family’s lodge, the inheritance that should’ve gone to me, while trying to keep our hands to ourselves after our unforgettable night together.

But as I see him more and more, I have to remind myself not to fall in love with the charismatic lodge owner who has taken our small town by storm.

There’s a fine line between love and hate, and Jamison is blurring that line.

He might have given me a night I’ll never forget, but can I let him take more of my future than he already has?

8. Chasing Serenity (River Rain #2) By Kristen Ashley

While this is the second book in the series, you don’t have to read the first one to understand the story.

Although you might feel a little lost with the storyline of some of the characters, but I didn’t think it was too relevant for the story.

A very outdoorsy story!

From a very young age, Chloe Pierce was trained to look after the ones she loved.

And she was trained by the best.

But when the man who looked after her was no longer there, Chloe is cast adrift—just as the very foundation of her life crumbled to pieces.

Then she runs into tall, lanky, unpretentious Judge Oakley, her exact opposite. She shops. He hikes. She drinks pink ladies. He drinks beer. She’s a city girl. He’s a mountain guy.

Obviously, this means they have a blowout fight upon meeting. Their second encounter doesn’t go a lot better.

Judge is loving the challenge. Chloe is everything he doesn’t want in a woman, but he can’t stop finding ways to spend time with her. He knows she’s dealing with loss and change.

He just doesn’t know how deep that goes. Or how ingrained it is for Chloe to care for those who have a place in her heart, how hard it will be to trust anyone to look after her…

And how much harder it is when it’s his turn.

9. From Lukov with Love By Mariana Zapata

If you are into slow burn, then you are going to love this sports romance!

The main couple takes forever to be together, but it’s worth it. You can actually feel they way they build their relationship.

It’s also an enemies to lovers, if you like that trope.

If someone were to ask Jasmine Santos to describe the last few years of her life with a single word, it would definitely be a four-letter one.

After seventeen years—and countless broken bones and broken promises—she knows her window to compete in figure skating is coming to a close.

But when the offer of a lifetime comes in from an arrogant idiot she’s spent the last decade dreaming about pushing in the way of a moving bus, Jasmine might have to reconsider everything.

Including Ivan Lukov.

10. Chill Factor By Sandra Brown

This romance book is a little different that the other. It’s also a suspense novel about a woman trapped in a remote cabin with a man who may be a serial killer.

Five women are missing from the sleepy mountain town of Cleary, North Carolina, and a blue ribbon has been left near where each woman was last seen.

Lilly Martin has returned to Cleary to close the sale of her cabin. But when her car skids and strikes a stranger, Ben Tierney, as he emerges from the woods, they’ve no choice but to wait out a brutal blizzard in the cabin.

And as the hours of their confinement mount, Lilly wonders if the greater threat to her safety isn’t the storm, but the stranger beside her…

11. Lionheart (Moonshadow #3) By Thea Harrison

I know this is the third book in the series, but the Moonshadow trilogy can be read as a standalone.

King Oberon reigned over his Dark Court in Lyonesse for centuries, until an assassination attempt laid him low.

Now he lies unconscious in his snow-bound palace, while his Power battles the enchantment that threatens to end his life.

A skilled trauma surgeon and magic-user, Dr. Kathryn Shaw reigns at the top of her profession in New York. Then comes a challenge she can’t resist—she is asked to cure the uncureable.

Just getting close enough to try healing Oberon is a dangerous proposition. When she does reach him, he awakens too soon.

Roused from darkness by Kathryn’s presence, Oberon confronts the beautiful stranger who claims she wants to save his life. But the enchantment has frozen his emotions. How can he learn to trust her when he can’t feel anything?

Oberon’s desire is icy, devoid of all tenderness. Not only must Kathryn match wits with him, she must also fight her reaction to his touch, because there is so much more at stake than her own endangered heart.

For the Dark Court faces its most deadly peril yet. Its ancient enemy Isabeau, Queen of the Light Court, is obsessed with its annihilation, and Oberon must be brought to remember his loyalty and affection for his people.

Because if he won’t fight for them, Lyonesse itself may very well be destroyed…

12. Storm (Ashes & Embers #1) By Carian Cole

I had no idea crashing into a ditch would change my life forever.

Fate had other plans, and I never stood a chance.

A series of weather and road mishaps left me trapped in the middle of a blizzard with a complete stranger in the back of a pickup truck.

For forty-eight freakin’ hours.

A stranger with long hair, tattoos, and rippling with muscle.

A stranger with an insanely sexy voice and a smile that turned my insides to jelly.

A stranger who held me in his arms, calmed me, and then set a fire in me that I couldn’t put out.

I didn’t know I was trapped with America’s favorite bad boy guitarist, Storm Valentine. And he was in no rush to reveal his secret. He’s used to getting everything he wants, and for some reason, he’s decided he wants me.

Some people chase storms for the beautiful thrill. What happens when the storm chases you?

15. Bitter Heat (Singed #1) By Mia Knight

This was a great book, but here’s a warning: it ends in a cliffhanger.

The good news is that the second book is out! So you don’t have to worry too much about it.

Also, the author mentioned this is a dark romance novel with triggers (toxic relationship).

She was the wood. He was the flame. After this, they would be ash.

A cruel twist of fate leaves Jasmine Hennessy stranded in a remote cabin with her worst nightmare—her ex-husband, James Roth, who she hasn’t seen in five years.

He isn’t acting like the man she married, but did she ever really know him?

One night together kicks off a series of events that threatens her freedom as Roth seeks vengeance on those who ruined him seven years ago.

He’s determined to bring her back into the world she left behind where money is king, reputation is everything, and people will kill to keep their secrets.

Author’s This is a dark romance novel with triggers and mature themes that may make some readers uncomfortable.
