What’s On The Road: Life Has Ups And Downs

Hello, lovelies! It has been a while since I posted something in here, and I feel so guilty about it! But what can I say… sometimes life hits you and you just have to deal with it the best way you can. To be honest, I needed a break. For some reason, I was feeling a little depressed and without motivation. I just wanted to read books, lay in bed and play Candy Crush. So much fun, huh?

Anyway, I’m happy to be back and full of energy for this new month! If you are new around here, I just uploaded the new planner and habit tracker you can download here.

Life Has Ups And Downs

January was an amazing month and February started great. I was excited about Valentine’s Day and I had many ideas for the blog. A few days before Valentine’s Day, I felt a little different. The new post I had planned for the week felt stupid so I didn’t finish it. The next day I wanted to avoid social media and to just lay in bed and read all day long. From there everything went downhill.

What’s good about having downs? You can just go up after that.

My life is about ups and downs, great joys and great losses.  – Isabel Allende

When I feel unmotivated and sad, it means my mind is asking me to stop and separate myself from the rest of the world. Give me some alone time and recharge. It usually happens during the summer as well, which is weird. When I was in school it wasn’t a bad thing. My friends understood if I didn’t reply to texts right away and since I didn’t have to go to class or study, I didn’t stress over not doing anything productive.

Things are different when you are an adult and have responsibilities. During those few days, I did the bare minimum. Which was super stressful. I had things to do, but I didn’t have the energy to do. It was kinda weird because I just couldn’t do it. I did try; but honestly, I end up listening to my body, heart, and mind. It was time to slow down.

Have you ever gone through periods in your life when you just have to slow down? That too many things are happening in your life and time just flew by without enjoying the little things? That’s why vacation is so important! People who work from home, own a business or simply have a side hustle, can have a hard time trying to take breaks. We have a different schedule and it seems like we are working all the time. Weekends don’t have the same meaning as before.

I love it though! It’s just harder to know when to take breaks until it’s too late and you can’t keep going.

Take this as your reminder to slow down! Especially if you live in a big city. Everyone is stressed, traffic is horrible and everything has to be done like yesterday. Living a face-paced life is no good and sadly we just got used to it. We have acquired that as the norm. When in reality, probably no one will die if you wait to send that email tomorrow morning.

Planning A Trip

In other news, I have all my flights booked to see my boyfriend again! For those who don’t know I’m in an international long distance relationship. Which means my boyfriend and I live in different countries. It’s exhausting but worth it. Distance is not a reason to stop or avoid loving someone. If you aren’t sure, take a look at these 11 Reasons Why Long Distance Relationships Are A Good Idea.

I’m super excited! We are staying a few days in Miami then we will fly together to Myrtle Beach. That will also be our first flight together! I haven’t seen my boyfriend since the first week of November last year. I know, I know. That’s a lot! But you know… flying is expensive and I needed to save money.

Currently Loving

BOOKS

I’m obsessed with romance novels, so if you are into them, I’m your to-go girl to find new books. You can follow me on GoodReads, or just click here to see my favorite books of every season. You can also join my Reading Challenge, here!

I read more books during February, but those two were my favorites.

MOVIES

During the summer I went a lot to the movie theater with my friends and family. Besides that, I have been having movie marathons with my mom on Sundays so I have watched many movies this season. I don’t really remember all of them, but these were my favorite.

PRODUCTS

Since I’m in a saving mode, I haven’t really bought many things during the summer. A few days ago I got a new Shampoo Bar from Lush and I’m loving it (I’m using Jumping Juniper and my mom got New). Seriously, I can’t recommend that product enough. 3 out of 7 of my best friends are using it and they love it too. Even their family and friends are trying it too! You can read about my experience with shampoo bars here!

I’m obsessed with handbags, so I’m always looking for new ones. Right after Christmas, I got a small backpack from Prüne (an Argentinian brand) and I love it so much! It’s the perfect size and it fits everything I need. You can see it in many of my Instagram pictures.

February was weird, but I got through it! Now I’m super excited for March and my incoming trip to see my boyfriend. Do you have exciting plans for March? Let me know in the comments!

Sincerely, Melissa
