Hey there, lovelies! I’m so excited for this post because it’s going to be a new segment here on the blog. For that, I want to start talking about the things no one tells you about the Law Of Attraction.
Special post for beginners!
The Law of Attraction is something I started to take seriously at the beginning of this year.
I’ve been studying it and attending workshops (online because of the quarantine), so I’m very excited to share my thoughts and what I have been learning so far.

The first time I heard about the Law of Attraction was many years ago, but I didn’t really pay attention to it because, honestly, I didn’t care about it.
It was last year when my mom and I watched the movie based on the book The Secret, that I begin to be more interested about the Law of Attraction.
Side note: you can find the movie on Netflix!
A few months passed, and one day I came across a free workshop about this topic. I knew right there that it was a great opportunity to start being more serious about it.
It was a great experience and I learned a lot. Not only that, it made me realized that I have been applying the Law of Attraction all these years without even noticing!
For me, that was key, because it was right there when I realized that the Law of Attraction is not bullshit. It’s real, and the best part… it works!

What No One Tells You About The Law Of Attraction
Now, after my first workshop I also felt a little confused. I wasn’t sure where to start, and I also had many doubts.
So after a few months, the same woman that presented on my first workshop, was offering a more in depth one. Explaining basically everything I needed to know to keep moving with this law.
I’m so thankful that I was able to attend this new workshop (even though it was through Zoom). Now I have a guideline to follow. Which makes everything easier!
You know… the Law of Attraction needs a base (a strong one) if want to see it work every time. If you are serious about manifesting or co-creating, you need to start at the beginning.
The Law of Attraction needs a base (a strong one) if want to see it work every time. Click To TweetIt also goes further than just getting whatever you want. It’s basically a state of mind. Which can be so difficult to reach!
So let’s start with the list of things no one tells you about the Law of Attraction.
#1 Before Starting, You Need To Weed Your Mind From Toxic Thoughts
Ok, so yes, you can manifest no matter where your heart or head is. BUT. That’s not how you start.
If you search on Google: how to manifest, many articles will show up. There’s many ways to do it, but none of them will teach you how to make it sustainable in the long run.
If you search on Google: how to manifest, many articles will show up. There's many ways to do it, but none of them will teach you how to make it sustainable in the long run. Click To TweetThe Law of Attraction has an order. An order that is important to follow.
So before doing anything, the first thing you need to is to erase those toxic thoughts and limited beliefs from your mind.

How do you do that?
Well, it’s not that easy. Especially if you are used to be pessimistic or negative in general.
I started by recognizing those toxic thoughts and limited beliefs. For example, if you are applying to a job, you would start doubting yourself.
Your head will start bombarding you with thoughts like: “I’m not good enough for the job, I won’t get it, I don’t have enough experience, etc.”
Once you acknowledge the thought, let it know that you don’t need that negativity in you life, and that it needs to fuck off. For real!
This is how it goes inside my head: “Melissa, your blog is not good enough, you will never make money from it.” Me to my head: “Fuck off! I know I can do it. “
So basically, you will be in a constant fight with yourself.
You are capable of anything. You are smart, you are beautiful; and yes, your dreams can come true.
If you think they are unrealistic, it’s because someone told you that at some point in your life.
This first step is basically going back to an innocent kid again. It’s about believing anything is possible!
This process can take a long time because sometimes we don’t even know what kind of limited beliefs we have installed in our minds.
I would say, before starting manifesting anything, give yourself a month to weed your mind from all that crap.
Your mind is like a garden. If you want it to flourish, you need pure thoughts. So when that garden is full of weed, you need to pull it to keep the garden full of beautiful flowers.

#2 It’s Not About Being Happy All The Time
This is a little hard to explain, and while I was studying the law of attraction I asked myself if it meant that I only needed to be happy all the time.
Which sounds very upsetting. I can’t be sad, or disappointed?
That’s not the case at all!
The Law of Attraction means that I can only be happy all the time? I can't be sad, or disappointed? That's not the case at all! Click To TweetI realized that there’s a misconception with the Law of Attraction. Fo some reasons, some people started to preach a type of toxic positivity, which is obviously not good.
Just before writing this, I went through a tough couple of days. I was sad, and felt very meh (if you know what I mean).
That’s when it clicked me what the Law of Attraction was about.
It’s not about feeling happy all the time. It’s about having pure and clean feelings.
What I mean by this is, for example, someone betrays you or hurt you. You can feel sad, angry, etc. What you can’t do is wish the other person bad. It’s not up to you how the universe “revenges” you.
The same goes with thoughts full of envy or discouragement.
It’s about you, not the others. What others have and you don’t are things that you shouldn’t focus on.
The Law of Attraction is about knowing that everything will be OK no matter what. It’s about thinking that you will get a solution for your problem, even if you are struggling today. Because you are smart and very capable.
Remember, your thoughts are connected to what you will manifest tomorrow. So it’s important that you keep your heart and thoughts pure. Be in peace.
Like I mentioned before, it’s like going back to a little kid again. They feel many emotions, but their feelings aren’t dark or malicious. There’s an innocence in the way they think.

#3 You Won’t See Changes Overnight
Getting rid of toxic thoughts and limited beliefs can be hard, but with time you can definitely start over with a clean mind.
The hard part about doing that is that you need to go to the root of your thoughts, and identifying them can be an uncomfortable process.
I have been analyzing myself a lot during this time. Trying to figure out why I think in a certain way is though. Trying to change those limited beliefs is even harder though.
For example, the fact that I haven’t had a “real job” after graduating college would have people telling me that I’m a failure. That because I’m not making already a certain amount of money means that I won’t have a “comfortable” life.
That because I’m 26 years old and I’m not doing what other people of my age are doing I already failed in life.
Getting rid of all that… is though. Especially when society standards influence in my way of thinking.
Trusting yourself and believing that you will be alright is hard when society keep telling you otherwise.
So changing that to start attracting will take some time. Also, take it seriously from the beginning because it’s important you start from fresh.
It doesn’t matter if it takes you a month or longer. Every day you will be learning more and you will be feeling better. I trust that!
Also, if you are an over thinker… this will bring so many benefits!

#4 You Will Struggle A Lot
During the process you might question yourself and the Law of Attraction. It’s normal and it’s what we do as humans.
When things are not part of the status quo, then we will try to fight it.
For example, let’s say you want to win the lottery, what’s your first though? It’s impossible to win! So many people playing, so many numbers and you are supposed to guessed them all? Yeah, not happening.
Those kind of thoughts are the ones you will need to fight. I mean, everyone that buys a ticket has an opportunity to win. Others have done it, so why can’t you win the lottery?
The recommendation is to start small. With thoughts that can you easily believe. This will depend on the person, but try to recognize those that are easier for you.
Or, instead of starting with your thoughts (that most of the time we can’t control), try with actions. Be nicer with people and try practicing to look at the bright side of any bad situation you encounter.
For example, your sibling stole your phone charger. Instead of getting upset, just breath and think what’s the big deal. If you need it, go get it and tell them to please ask you next time they need it. No foul words or threats.
Another example would be, if you fail a test. Failing sucks, but what’s the positive side of it? Maybe it needed to happen in order for you to know what you need to study more next time. It will help you to create a better plan of attack for the next time, etc.

#5 You Might Have To Say Goodbye To Some People
While cleaning your mind and spirit, you will realized that some people around you aren’t as nice as you thought. Or maybe you will notice how certain actions with your friends are rather toxic. For example, when you talk behind someone’s back.
Even though we are so used to “roasting” people, because it can be funny, did we stopped to think how that affect the other person? I’m the first to admit that not really, since it’s normally done light-hearted.
Or maybe you have a friend or family member that loves to pour their bad experiences on you. Some people doesn’t exactly look for help, they just want vent and suck your energy. Also known as energy vampires.
If you decide that you don’t want to spend time with those people, it’s OK to say goodbye and you don’t have to feel guilty about it.
They might not understand you or your new life, but at some point it can be necessary to do.
Sometimes, we can’t erase this people from our lives (especially when we talk about family members), so we need to learn how to deal with them without affecting our whole process.
Definitely, a real challenge.
Now tell me, are you new to the Law of Attraction? It is something you are currently doing? What has been your experience? Let me know in the comments!
Sincerely,

I have complicated feelings about the Law of Attraction. I generally agree with the principles of it but I think people who believe in it can sometimes oversimplify it a lot and apply it to things that they shouldn’t (like, you can’t just expect a cancer diagnosis go away with only positive thoughts). I think generally, yes, positive thinking can attract positive things, but I also struggle with the unmeasurability and subjectiveness of it all – what are “objectively” positive things? And finally, maybe I’m just overthinking this, but I can’t help but feel that the implication of the law of attraction is that anything negative that happens to you must be your fault because, if you weren’t so negative, it wouldn’t happen right? To go back to the cancer diagnosis example, does cancer only happen to people who are negative? That can’t possibly be true.
Again, I like the idea and maybe it’s just I’m too skeptical but I think I like the idea of the law of attraction, it’s just that it can easily be oversimplified and things that are vague will always have trouble with objective measurability. But that’s just my two cents!
Still, I liked reading about your thoughts on the subject! I’m glad you found it to be a positive experience for you!
Melissa says
I’m so glad you wrote this comment because sooo many people have the same questions as you. While I’m still a beginner and there are some things that I’m still need to discover… I have noticed that many wonder the same. Sounds like the Law of Attraction is so strict.
In general, it’s never your fault when something bad happen to you. It’s about taking responsibility of the decision you made that led you where you are. There’s a difference (that has an impact) between saying it’s my fault vs saying I take responsibility for what I’m living. While there are so many bad things that can happen, for example rape. And saying… you were raped because you did X, Y and Z it’s so upsetting! But in my opinion it goes beyond. It’s about healing, and in that case therapies like Ho’oponopono can help a lot BEFORE starting with the Law of Attraction.
Also, the LOA is honestly about attracting better things for your life. There are other universal laws like the Law of Cause and Effect, which is basically karma. All these laws intertwine. So while you can’t wish someone bad… other laws will find a way to avenge you. You just have to live your life!
Another thing I want to mention (because I literally believe in everything lol) is that when someone has cancer. Is not necessary because they did something wrong or had toxic thoughts (kids for example), sometimes it happen because they are carrying something from a different life and need to learn it in their current lives.
While I’m still a beginner, I have found myself feeling better with myself. Which is an amazing gift.
Thank you much for reading!

It’s interesting to read your thoughts about this journey. I don’t personally practice this lifestyle, but I know a lot of people who do, and I’m glad you’ve found it to be a positive experience overall, despite the ups and downs in the beginning.
