The Reason Why I Stopped Watching True Crime (And Why You Should Too)
If you are starting your spirituality journey, and you also love to consume true crime media, this is your sign to stop doing it. Or at the very least… do it less.
One thing is to know what’s going around you (for example: watching the news), and something way different is to choose true crime for entertainment purposes.
If you are bored, or you just want something playing in the background; choose a something a little more light hearted, like a comedy or an affirmations video. Anything that will help you raise your vibrations. We don’t want the opposite.

Is It Bad To Watch True Crime Documentaries?
It’s not bad per se. It’s more about how true crime podcasts or documentaries can affect your daily life and how they make you feel.
We know how the Law of Attraction works and how powerful it is. We also know that your feelings and thoughts affect what goes into your subconscious mind.
The last thing you want is to feed your subconscious mind with everything you feel and think while you watch those kind of documentaries or movies. Which is usually anxiety, fear, anger, etc.
Also note, that avoiding “bad news or stories” has nothing to do with toxic positivity or avoiding the real world. This is about how true crime media can affect your mental health and your vibrations.
I want to be clear with this because many people defend the reason why they consume true crime by saying that they want to be prepared if it happens.
Or by saying that not caring about what happens to others is lack of empathy and a privilege. But that’s so far from the true or the reasoning behind why you have to avoid watching true crime documentaries.
If you do it for educational purposes, which in my opinion is a stretch, you should simply do it different. For example: going to self-defense classes, or actually looking for solutions. No need to see or hear the gruesome details.
Bad people exist and we can’t just ignore that fact, but preparing “for when it happens”, is the reason why I think you should stop. It’s putting you in dark state of mind, when you should actually focus on other things.
Take a look at this article about “How Your True Crime Obsession Actually Affects Your Brain, According To Experts“, it can give you some insights why is not good to on true crime marathons.
Here and there is okay to watch something different, especially if you are curious about a certain case, but if you do it too much, it can affect your mental health in the short term.
Remember: we want to constantly raise our vibrational frequency.
Why I Stopped Watching True Crime
A couple of things in my life made me realized how badly true crime documentaries were affecting my mental health.
In the past I would hop in the treadmill for an hour and watch YouTube videos with different true crime cases. It was entertaining, or that’s what I though.
I wasn’t aware or how that daily routine was impacting simple daily tasks.
Suddenly I was feeling down, lack of energy, crankier than usual, etc. Everything seemed harder to do and something was simply off about me.
I truly didn’t understand the impact it had on me until I had a biotherapy session a couple of months after I stopped watching true crime.
During that session I was told I had seven entities attached to my aura.
Which basically meant that everything was seven times harder to do. It also explained my lack of energy.
When that was cleared out, I can’t even explained how that made me feel afterwards. I felt such a rush of good emotions inside me!
Not only I was more energetic, I was also feeling motivated and more cheerful. It felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders (figuratively and literally).
While this situation wasn’t only because I was watching true crime documentaries (I was also dealing with other personal things), that fact wasn’t helping to my overall wellbeing.
By staying in a low vibe state or low frequency, you are becoming vulnerable to entity attachment.
And by adopting toxic habits that lower your vibrational frequency, you will keep attracting entities that will feed on your negativity.
Final Thoughts
In summary, I just want you to be aware of how watching too many scary movies or true crime documentaries (including podcasts), can affect you in ways that you might not even notice.
We don’t even talk about the psychological effects of crime shows can have on us. Here’s an article that talks about that.
While it’s interesting to watch, we have to see what’s behind every story. Which goes beyond entreteinment or education. There are real families grieving a person.
The other day I came across this video on TikTok about a girl talking about low vibe things she eliminated from her life. Number one on her list was true crime.
I also found this article about toxic habits that are lowering your vibration. Very interesting to know!
While a complete change of lifestyle it’s often hard to do and takes long, I truly believe that we can find some balance.
Sincerely,
