If you are a regular on the blog, then you know how much I love romance books. I even have a ton of book recommendations for you!
So two weeks ago, I thought it would be a great idea to try Passionflix and share my thoughts about this streaming service with you.
I’ve been wanting to try it for a while now, but I was waiting for the release of Gabriel’s Inferno movies (one of my favorite series!).
So now that the movie is finally available (alongside with part II!), I’m ready to try the website out and review it for you.
So first of all, what’s Passionflix?
In their website they define themselves as: “a premium streaming service offering original movies, series and shorts, adapted from bestselling romance novels, along with an impressive library of your all-time favorite romance classics.”
So basically what they do is to bring your favorite romance books to life.
In general, I love that some of my favorite romance novels are turned into movies and series. It’s a great way to experience them again, but in a different way.I love that some of my favorite romance novels are turned into movies and series. I feel like the streaming service could be better though.
The are not many options available yet, which can make you doubt paying for the subscription each month.
I do think it will be amazing once they add more movies and series to the platform.
Even though the website is pretty simple, somehow it feels a little hard to navigate and to see all the movies that are available.
I wanted to take a look at the whole list of movies and series, but there wasn’t a page where I could see them all.
Instead, they separate them in categories that were not clear; and by this I mean that the name of the categories were not obvious.
For example, the name of one of the categories is “Chutzpah and Hoohah” which I had no idea what that means, what should I expect from that category?
Another one is called “Wine & Cheese Lounge”, which apparently is where you can find all the behind the scenes and bloopers videos.
I don’t know about you, but for me those names don’t make sense for me. I don’t find the correlation between the names of the categories and what you can find in them.
They do have a page where they rate each movie depending on how steamy they can are.
The use the fire emoji to let you know the level of sexiness of each movie or series. Which makes it easy to know what to expect from them.
You can see an example below:
The Best Of Passionflix
Something that I really want to highlight, is that you can access Passionflix worldwide. No matter where you live! You can access Passionflix worldwide. No matter where you live! Click To Tweet
For example, I’m currently in Chile; and while I can’t access Disney+ and Hulu here, Passionflix has no problem with the country you live in.
That being said, does that means that you can watch the movies even if you don’t speak English? Absolutely!
You have the option of enabling subtitles, which are available in several languages.
So if I want to invite my friends over for a movie night, they would have no problem watching them with me even though they don’t speak English.
Some of the languages available are: Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Polish, Italian, French, English, Dutch, and Czech.
Now, let’s talk about their prices.
To be honest, unless you are a big fan, the signature and annual subscription aren’t really worth it.
The Passionflix Signature Membership is $125 a year. That includes: 1-year subscription to the streaming service, invite to premieres and film sets, 15% discount on all Passionflix merchandise, unlimited access to Passionflix original movies and series, and you can watch on any device.
The Passionflix Annual Subscription is $65 a year. It pretty much includes the same one as the membership above, you just won’t get an invitation to premieres or film sets. It also doesn’t include the discount for the merch.
Finally, we have the one I got, the Passionflix Monthly Subscription for $6 a month. Which basically gives you access to all the content available in the streaming service and you can watch on any device.
Like I mentioned before, unless you are a big fan of all the movies, you only will need the monthly subscription.
To be honest, the app is way better than the website. The best part? It lets you download any of the movies and series. Which can be super useful if you are flying somewhere and need some entertainment during the flight or a long layover.
Is Passionflix Worth It?
Overall, depends on what you like and the movies you want to watch (you can see the complete list of movies and series they offer here).
In my opinion, a month is enough time to watch your favorites. If you need more time to watch them all, then you can pay for another month.
Even though I’m crazy about romance books, Passionflix is not yet at the point to make me feel like I want to pay for it every month.
Will I pay for the Passionflix monthly subscription again? For sure! Once they add more movies from my favorite romance books.
There’s a list on their website with all the upcoming romance books they will be turning into movies if you want to know what are they working on (you can see the future projects here).
In conclusion, for now, a one month subscription was enough for me.
Have you tried Passionflix before? Is this streaming service is something you would like to try? Let me know in the comments!
