Happy Friday, lovelies! On today’s post, I’ll be sharing ten morning routine ideas you can add to yours + what do I do every morning.
I used to struggle a lot in the mornings (who am I kidding, I still do!).

Also, I’m so happy that today is the last day of the month. August was a weird month for me and I’m happy it’s over.
Many exciting things are happening during September. I’m traveling to the US to see my boyfriend on September 23rd. Then, during the week of the 17th, Chile is celebrating a new year of independence.
We celebrate our independence in a big way and for almost a week (we even start earlier sometimes). This means: tons of food, drinks, and dancing until we can’t anymore.
So if you ever want to come to Chile, I recommend coming during that week.

We all have different mornings, and what you do during them will depend on how much time you have.
During my internship, I would try to enjoy the time with my bed as much as I could. So making my bed, meditating and drinking warm water with lemon wasn’t on my top 5 things to do in my morning.
Also… I had such a bad experience during my internship that the last thing in my mind was to focus on my mornings.
Although, now that I think about it, I should have put more effort into my morning routine to start my day with a different (and better) mindset. It totally changes how I feel during the day!
My Morning Routine
1. My days start at 8.30 AM with the lovely alarm tone I set on my phone to make sure I will wake up.
Side note: I used to use songs that I liked as my alarm tone, but then I realized that I ended up hating the songs after a while. So I decided to stop using them.
2. After that, I quickly check the notifications on my phone to see what was happening during the night.
I don’t take more than five minutes or I would end up spending more time than I should on social media.
It’s so easy to lose track of time, especially with Instagram!

3. The next thing I do is open the Youtube app on my phone and search for my favorite guided meditation video. It’s a 10-minute video, but I just do five. That just feels better for me.
Another option for this is using an app. That way you can avoid those annoying ads.
I have tried Headspace before, and I loved the app. I stopped using it because it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for.
4. Now, it’s time to get up and get that warm water with lemon! After drinking it, I like to organize my to list (you can see how I do that here).
5. If I don’t work out, I would go directly to the shower and get ready for the day, then I would eat breakfast and walk Coco (my puppy) afterwards.
But if I do, instead of going to the shower I go for a run or do something else for at least half an hour. I normally go with Coco, he’s a great company and can keep up with me.

It’s amazing how this morning routine makes me more productive. It definitely makes the waking up process less hard.
I’m happier, and it keeps me motivated during the day. It also helps me so much with a problem that hunts almost every day: procrastination. So it’s a win-win situation.
I have to admit that I’m still not in love with mornings, but at least now I’m starting to understand why morning people enjoy it so much!
Morning Routine Ideas
After reading about my morning routine, you got a few morning routine ideas you can add to yours.
But in case your mornings are different to mine (especially if you have to leave home early), I’m also giving you extra ideas you can adapt to different schedules.
All these morning routine ideas have many benefits in the long run, so make sure to add a few of these to start your day the best way you can.

1. Meditate
At first, I would always forget about meditating and I didn’t really see the benefit of it, but now that I have been doing it for weeks I love it!
Mindfulness has become a really important part of my life. It has so many benefits for your health! Body and Brain.
If you aren’t sure if this is for you, Positive Psychology Program has this article that mentions all the health benefits you can get from Mindfulness.
2. Start Your Morning With Happy Tunes
This is the easiest way to start your day happy. Just have your playlist ready to play some fun music!
This will help you to motivate yourself while you get ready for the day. I always like to listen to songs that make me dance in the morning. It’s an instant mood booster.
3. Drink Warm Water + Lemon
Warm water + lemon in the morning has many benefits! For example, promotes digestion and increases the metabolic rate. That’s one of the reasons why this is something I can’t forget to do it.
Also, make sure to wait 30 minutes before eating your breakfast, this will ensure your body the most energy and nutrients from the food you eat.

4. Make Your Bed
It’s so nice to have a tidy room!
Let the good energies flow around your home; and that my friends, it’s advice directly from my mom that never forgets to remind me the importance of it.
You guys know how wise moms are and that we just have to do what they say. Most of the time at least…
5. Organize Your To-Do List For The Day
This is a very important part of my morning! Normally, the night before I add a bunch of different tasks to my to-do list I plant to do the next day.
So when I organize my to-do list in the morning, I add a number next to the tasks so I know which one I need to do first (or which ones are more important).
6. Say Affirmations And VISUALIZE
I used to do this at the begging of the year when I had fresh goals, but will definitely try to start doing this again.
If you want to see the importance of visualization, read this article by Law of Attraction Guide.
If you love writing, mornings are great for journaling as well!
7. Walk Your Dog
Dogs are the best company and a great excuse to start being more active. They need the daily exercise just like you do. Even if the walk is just a few blocks.

8. Work Out
Some people prefer to do it at night, but honestly, I just prefer to get over it as soon as I can.
Believe me, if you are like me (lazy and a professional procrastinator), you will feel better if you work out in the morning and cross it out from your to-do list.
Avoid feeling guilty for not doing it when the end of the day comes.
9. Eat A Healthy Breakfast
I’m not very creative with my breakfast, especially because I don’t want to spend time on making something I will eat so fast.
My go-to is milk + cereal. Easy and yummy, but I also love eggs, avocado toast, and fruits + yogurt.
If I feel creative I would look for different recipes on Pinterest. During the summer I love making chia pudding and overnight oats.
So at the end, it will depend on how much time you have each morning to prepare a healthy breakfast.
10. Get Ready For The Day
That’s all! Once your morning is all done, you are ready to continue with your day with a lot of energy and a good mood.
So, what do you think? Do you have a morning routine you love or you just improvise during the mornings? Let me know in the comments!
Sincerely,

Thanks for the ideas. I wonder if Lemon Essential Oils work the same as actual lemon? I have edible ones I use for my cold water. What do you think?
Melissa says
Hi Holly! You are welcome. Regarding your question, I would say that using the actual lemon is better, since you are getting all the properties from the fruit 🙂
