Hi there, friends! How are you doing? I’m doing great! Very excited to share these tips on how to legally download books for free.

If you are like me and you addicted to reading, then you know the struggle of constantly having to spend money on books; but since it’s something you love to do, it’s not that big of a deal.

BUT. Having the option to download books for free is great for when you want to keep reading, but you are living on a tight budget. Especially if you prefer to read physical books. Paperback books are no cheap!

Side-note: I stopped reading paperback books many years ago because it was hurting my -college student- wallet, so I started to read on my iPad. There’s a big difference between paying around $15 for a physical book instead of just $5 for reading it on my iPhone/iPad.

Now, you might be thinking: where’s the trap? Because nothing is really free. My answer? There’s no trap! These eBooks are 100% free and there’s no subscription needed.

This is something I discovered by accident. I had no idea that some authors offer some books for free on different platforms.

Definitely game changer for me!

So, how can you get these books for free? You have two options.

1. Kindle Store on Amazon

First, you need the Kindle app on your smartphone. So before doing anything, download the app.

The next thing you need to do is, go to the Amazon website and type on the search bar: ‘kindle book free‘. When you hit enter, all the free eBooks will appear!

Now, the book you are dying to read might not be there (although who knows, maybe it is!), but it’s a great way to find new authors; and who knows, maybe you will find your next favorite book there too.

Also, many of the books that are free (at least the first ones that show up), are also romance novels. So if you love the romance genre, this is great for you!

And if you are looking for book recommendation in that genre, I got you! Click here to check out my favorite romance books.

2. ‘Books’ App on iOS Devices

This option is only available for those who have an iPhone or iPad (sorry Android users!).

First, open the Books app and go to the Book Store section.

Once you are there, click on ‘Browse Section’. A new page will open and it will show a list with different categories.

Right below where it says ‘Top Charts’, you will see the ‘Free Books’ section (it should be the second section on the list).

Click there and a new page will open. All the free books that are available will appear.

Select the book you want to read for free and press GET.

That’s all! Super easy and fast.

Also, while browsing some of the free books that are available, I noticed that The Chase by Elle Kennedy (one of my favorite authors) was there. If you haven’t read it, I totally recommend it!

If you are currently reading this post on your phone, then click here for the direct link to the book!

Something that I really like about downloading free books on the Books app is that you can browse the books by genre. It even has a category with the top free books!

So now tell me, did you know that you can read eBooks for free on those platforms? Let me know in the comments!

Sincerely,

  1. This is genius! I’m an avid reader and I feel like all I do is buy books. Thanks for sharing!

    1. That’s the sad truth. The book we would love to read is usually not free, but it does give us a great opportunity to discover new authors. Also free doesn’t equal bad book (because I used to think like that). It’s also a marketing strategy!

  2. You know what also works? The library 😉 But yes! If you prefer to have an electronic version of a book, these are good options. I just use the library for physical books and listen to audiobooks on Audible or the Libby/Overdrive apps. But I’m picky. I find reading should be a way to move away from screens – call me old fashioned!

    1. I don’t even remember the last time I went to a library hahaha. But you are so right! I just got used to reading on my phone and being able to bring it everywhere without being so bulky. Although it’s true, we already spend a lot of time looking at a screen.

  3. This is great to know! I’m kind of old fashioned and prefer an actual book, but this would be a great option for traveling when space is limited. And free is always wonderful!

    1. Definitely the best option for traveling. I just got used to reading on my phone or iPhone. It took me time since I love the smell of books haha
