Birthday Journal Prompts To Reflect And Set New Intentions

In honor of my birthday month, I wanted to share powerful birthday journal prompts for reflection and to set intentions for your new year.

A couple of days before or after your birthday, you can take some time to reflect the past year. It’s therapeutic and important for your personal development.

It gives you a moment to think about what sucked, what you want to improve, what are you thankful for, and what you want to achieve, etc.

I turned 30 on October 15, and it feels unreal.

I still remember those days when I was 16, suffering for a boy that wouldn’t like me back, or thinking why mom was making my life harder, or why I couldn’t be the protagonist of a romance book.

Leaving my 20s behind feels bittersweet, I regret not being courageous enough to do many things, but I’m so happy to turn 30 and start this new chapter in my life.

It feels a little scary—not gonna lie. Too often I think about that invisible clock that tells me I’m not following society’s timeline or expectations. It’s exhausting, and it doesn’t let me enjoy life at its fullest.

Constantly worrying about life and what I should achieve is something I’m planing to let go soon.

Doing life on my own terms its freeing and I want to reach that point.

Birthday Journal Prompts

  1. How would you ideally like to spend your birthday? Write or draw your perfect birthday.
  2. What is your general attitude towards your birthday? Explore the different emotions and the possible reasons why you feel like that.
  3. Write a list of songs that made the past year better.
  4. Write a bucket list of what you want to experience in the next year of your life.
  5. Reflect on where you were a year ago, where you are now, and where you hope to be a year from now.
  6. What is your most important relationship now?
  7. How do you feel about turning this age?
  8. Write a list of habits or thoughts you want to leave behind.
  9. What was something difficult/challenging that happened the past year? How did you get through it? If it’s still ongoing, how are you coping?
  10. What was something new you did in the past year for the very first time?
  11. Choose one or two affirmation will help throughout your new trip around the sun.
