Hi there, lovelies! I’m back sharing with you some of the beauty hacks my mom has taught me during the years. She’s the queen of hacks and always have the best tips.
I always ask myself how did she learned all that stuff. Especially because she didn’t have Google.
Every time I see something online I ask her first. Most likely she already tried and knows if it’s a total bullshit or if it might work. Lately is so hard to tell! Especially when we talk about beauty hacks.

I made a list of some of her favorite beauty hacks, and from that list we chose a top 5.
It was hard to pick because she has so many good ones, but at the end I chose the ones I use the most (and that are easy to replicate).
Most of these hacks are about using natural products and going back to the source.

1. Don’t dry the water of your face after showering
I don’t know who told her this, but my mom said it’s a good way to hydrate your face. It works for her and to me as well. It doesn’t mean you have to skip moisturizer.
After you get out of the shower, don’t use a towel to dry your face. Let your skin absorb everything, and after that you can continue your skin care routine.
2. Use baby shampoo from time to time
The shampoos we use on a daily basis have ingredients that aren’t that great for our hair and scalp. So if you are starting to get some problems (like dandruff), that means it’s time for a change.
My mom says that it’s always good to use baby shampoo from time to time. Especially when we want to get rid of the chemicals that accumulates on our scalps.
So when my hair starts feeling weird (too oily), I get myself the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo or any other similar one.
It really works! Baby Shampoos have less chemicals and are more gentle with your scalp and hair.
3. Use aloe vera for you face
If you are a fan of natural products, this beauty hack is perfect for you. Nothing is more natural than buying the plant!
There was a time when every week my mom would make face masks for her, my sister and I. It was sticky, but my face felt really hydrated.
It’s good for: correcting dark spots, sooth your skin after shaving, it can erase redness in your skin, has anti-age properties, and so much more benefits!
One way to do it is by cutting the the aloe vera in slices. The bottom of the plant is the one that has more gel so you can start there. Once you have one slice, you can cut one in half getting two different slices.
Each slice will have the aloe vera gel that you can rub on your skin.
Another way to do it is by creating a face mask with different ingredients. Put them all in the blender and mix them together.
My mom also add some pieces of aloe vera to her smoothie every morning. It doesn’t even matter if it doesn’t taste good, you don’t feel it in the smoothie.
The aloe vera will detoxify your body by removing the toxins and it will boost your immune system.
How can you store the aloe vera once you finish using it? Super easy! Wrap it in any kind of paper and put it in the fridge.
4. Heal cracked feet with Vaseline and diaper rash cream
I know it’s a weird combination, but it works. Especially when you are on a budget and you don’t want to get those medical lotions.
All you have to do is put in a container a little bit of Vaseline jelly and diaper rash cream.
Once you have the two ingredients, mix them together. Put the mix on the area of your feet that’s cracked and dry and cover it with plastic wrap.
Make sure to leave it there for a few hours. Even better if you can keep it all night long. Keep doing this treatment until you feel your feet soft again.
5. Curl your hair with no heat
My mom has really curly hair, and my hair… is a little confused. Sometimes is straight and sometimes I have waves. I even have one side that tens to be more wavy than the other. Basically it doesn’t what to be.
But when I was a teenager, she forbid me to use curling irons or hair straighteners. For my mom, the worst thing I could to my hair was applying unnecessary heat (and dyeing it).
So she taught me a technique using strips of fabric. There are many tutorial out there that explain the process. It’s supper easy!
This is what you have to do: when your hair is nearly dry, start rolling your hair with the fabric strips. Choose how much hair you want on every strip.
If you grab more hair in each section, you will have chunky curls. If you grab less hair for each strips, you will have more curls.
When you are done with you all hair, you go to sleep with it. The next day you will have beautiful!
You can follow this tutorial to curl your hair with no heat.
So what do you think? My mom is the queen of beauty hacks and always has great ideas. Do you have any other beauty hack or tip you want to share? Let me know in the comments!
Sincerely,

These are such good beauty hacks! Definitely saving these for later 🙂 I didn’t even think of the benefits from leaving the water on your face and not drying it off – totally makes sense though!
Always,
